Eugene M. Wilson, 58, of Butler died Friday at his home.

He was born June 10, 1950, in Butler, the son of the late Col. Eugene Wilson and Lucille Marie Birckbichler.

He was a member of Rider Lutheran Church and the Butler County Genealogical Society.

Mr. Wilson worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections in Mercer and was a former special deputy for Butler County.

He was a veteran of the Air Force and served during the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed the outdoors, genealogy research and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra F. Wilson, who he married Jan. 9, 1970; a son, Kirk R. Wilson of Butler; a daughter-in-law, Tracy Wilson of Butler; two grandchildren, Cole and Kenzee Wilson; a brother, Robert H. Wilson of Flinton; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Jean Hoover of Butler.

He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Wilson, who died April 8, 2001.

Services and burial at Rider Lutheran Cemetery for Eugene M. Wilson, who died Friday, June 27, 2008, are private.
